The manager and employees presented ovarian cancer survivors and OCAN staff and volunteers with a large check right before the store's ribbon cutting. OCAN has partnered with the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospital PGA Golf Tournament to raise funds for both the Shriners Childrens Hospital a
nd OCAN. We are selling ANY DAY tournament tickets for the October
2010 Las Vegas Tournament. Tickets are only $15 when purchased from OCAN directly and can be used to attend the Tournament ANY day (Monday through the final day Sunday). January Support Group Meeting was held at Nevada Cancer Institute and Margo Otto, MSW led the group in an interactive discussion of self advocacy. The women were so involved in the discussions we didn't even realize the meeting lasted for a full 2 hours! Thanks Margo for sharing your time, knowledge and amazing facilitation skills.
In January of 2010 OCAN partnered with the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance to bring a new program to Nevada. We trained 4 survivors to present to Residents and students at Medical Schools. The Program, Survivors Teaching Students: Saving Women's Lives, has been taught in over 75 schools across the country and we kicked it off in Nevada at the University of Nevada Medical School on January 29th.
We can't thank the Boulder City Women's Golf Association enough for honoring OCAN at their their January Tournament and Auction. They also gave us opporuntities to raise awareness by talking with the group, sharing symptom cards and pins, and posting an article on their public bulletin board.

Day of Indulgence - OCAN hosted a half day of massage, manicures, reflexology, aromatherapy, craniosacral therapy, makeovers and other fun indulgences for survivors of gynecological cancers. The event took place at the Sherry Goldstein Yoga Sanctuary and was kicked off with a yoga session taught by Sherry herself!

2004 OCAN selected by the National Association of Women Business Owners to receive a donation from the annual Women of Distinction Awards Dinner. OCAN's Director spoke at the Award dinner to an audience of over 500 people, our organization was featured in the Las Vegas InBusiness magazine. We accepted the donation at a membership luncheon for NAWBO.

Ovarian Cancer: Silent No More. A class for health care professionals with CE credits. Vicki Koceja, RN, Oncology Program Director at Sunrise Hospital will be teaching this CE accredited Ovarian Cancer Education Class. OCAN and Southern Nevada Area Health Education Center worked together to bring this class to healthcare professionals in our area.
Channel 5 came to OCAN meeting in 2002 to get a comment on the “new screening test” for ovarian cancer. We were on the 10pm and 8am news and we got several calls requesting more info.
