Tuesday 4th - OCAN Volunteer Meeting, 6pm
Wednesday 5th through Friday 7th - OCAN exhibited at AHEC First Lady's
Conference on Women's Health Issues.
Wednesday 5th - Christina Harris accepted award on Crispin's Behalf at
Southern Nevada AHEC "Honoring Our Heroes" reception.
Friday 7th - "Our Stories, Our Power" - Liz Williams presented about Crispin's
accomplishments at AHEC First Lady's Conference on Women's Health Issues.
Sunday 15th - Healthy Living fair in Sun City Anthem. Sponsored by St.
Rose Dominican Hospital, OCAN exhibited
Sunday 15th - HERA Climb for Life - Fundraiser for Cancer Research. The
event is dedicated to Crispin Morrison. Some of the money raised will be
given to OCAN for "Quality of Life" programs. The Las Vegas Review Journal had an article announcing the event. It may be viewed at:

Saturday, Sept 14 - The HERA Ovarian Cancer Climb for Life - Las Vegas at Powerhouse Gym
Saturday, Sept 28 - Ovarian Cancer: Silent No More. A class for health care professionals with CE credits. Vicki Koceja, RN, Oncology Program Director at Sunrise Hospital will be teaching this CE accredited Ovarian Cancer Education Class. OCAN and Southern Nevada Area Health Education Center are working together to bring this class to healthcare professionals in our area.
August
Femail Creations has chosen OCAN as their charity for their AUGUST catalog (please wait until August to order). If you go to Femail Creations, you can purchase the featured item, a beautiful plaque with a poem called “What Cancer Can Not Do.” All proceeds from that item will be donated to OCAN.
June
Sunday, June 2 – (11AM-3PM) Summerlin Hospital Health Fair. – Help celebrate "National Cancer Survivor’s Day" with a wonderful speaker named Joni Rodgers, a cancer survivor who wrote the "Bald in the Land of Big Hair".
Sunday, June 2 – (11AM-3PM) Sunrise Hospital Health Fair – A cancer survivor will share some laughs, food, and fun at this celebration of "National Cancer Survivor’s Day".
Friday, June 7 – Nellis Health Fair - We need 2 volunteers to hand out brochures, talk to people, etc.
Wednesday, June 19 - Channel 5 came to the meeting last night to get a comment on the “new screening test” for ovarian cancer. We
were on the 10pm and 8am news and we got several calls requesting more info.
June 20 - We've got our beautiful new Swarovski crystal ovarian cancer awareness pins! They come in single or double strand. The single strand is $5.00 and the double is $10.00. They are gorgeous! We still have the enamel ones for one dollar.
Saturday, June 22 (9 am to 4 pm) - Spring Valley Library Health Fair. We need 4 volunteers to staff our booth, hand out info, etc.
Friday - Sunday, June 28-30 – "All About Women Conference" at the MGM Grand. 30,000 people will attend this "girlfriend getaway" weekend.
May
Monday, May 13 – TV Channel 5’s Goal Setters program will be doing an interview with me.
Tuesday, May 14 – Women’s Cancer Center Meeting Gynecologic Cancer Support Group, Lake Mead Hospital, 4th floor. A yoga teacher will teach us some gentle yoga.
Wednesday, May 15 – OCAN Meeting
Tuesday, May 28 – Southern Nevada Continuity of Care Association – We will present an education program for health care
professionals. More info to come.
Wednesday, May 29 – 10 am - Boulder City Senior Center – We will present an ovarian cancer awareness program which will be filmed and aired on the local Boulder City television station. I need a volunteer to go with me – preferably a “senior survivor.” I think senior means 55 or older, which seems pretty "un-senior" to me!

April 17 - As most of you already know, ABC is airing the Gilda Radner Story on April 29th, the anniversary of her death from ovarian cancer. Channel 13 will be coming to our meeting this Wednesday to get some info on OCAN and to see what we’re doing to help those with ovarian cancer. They’re going to run the segment on the 29th during the Gilda movie.

OCAN brochure is printed and distributed.
OCAN "Symptoms and Facts" business card is printed and distributed.
April
OCAN begins distribution of a Patient Care Package to oncology offices in Nevada. The package contains a video taped interview of four ovarian cancer survivors, an audio meditation tape, brochures and educational literature about ovarian cancer, a teal ribbon, and other helpful information.
May
OCAN receives a grant from GlaxoSmithKline.
June
OCAN participates in National Cancer Survivor Day at Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas.
July
OCAN's founder speaks to the Oncology Nursing Society members at their monthly meeting.
August
OCAN's founder is on the cover of the Barbara Greenspun WomensCare Magazine. See About OCAN for reprint of article and photos.

OCAN works to bring "Body Image~Body Essence" - viewing cancer through the art of sculpture exhibit to Las Vegas.

OCAN works to raise awareness by asking women golfers to wear teal ribbons in conjunction with the LPGA's awareness campaign.
OCAN's founder speaks to women golfers at TPC Golf Course and Spanish Trails Golf Course.
September 6, 2001: ABC Affiliate KTNV (Channel 13 TV, Las Vegas, NV) anchor Jenna Anton interviews OCAN founder and filmed special coverage for broadcast and publicity about this event. This filming took place at the TPC-Summerlin Country Club.
September 6, 2001: OCAN's founder speaks to the monthly meeting of the Executive Women's Golf Association, Las Vegas Chapter.
September 10, 2001:The Las Vegas Review Journal published two articles on ovarian cancer, one with comments from Crispin and the other featuring OCAN's founder - Crispin Morrison. Read these articles at: LIFE AND DEATH: Furtive Killer , and Ovarian cancer patient forms organization.
September 11, 2001:OCAN's founder, Crispin, spoke to a group of doctors, nurses and survivors at Lake Mead Hospital in Las Vegas about what it's like to have ovarian cancer, why she started OCAN, and how others can help.

The Ovarian Cancer Alliance of Nevada is founded as 501c3 nonprofit organization.
OCAN participates in National Cancer Survivor Day at Summerlin Hospital and Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas.
OCAN successfully petitions Nevada Governor Guinn to proclaim September 2000 as Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.
OCAN purchases the domain name www.ocan.org
OCAN establishes its Board of Directors and Medical Advisory Board.
July 2000
Recorded radio spot at K-NEWS in Las Vegas.
August 2000
